POLICE arrested several people following a disturbance during which a woman suffered a deep cut to her head at the weekend in Peterlee.

Neighbourhood Inspector Warren Edwards said police were alerted to an incident in the east Durham town’s Pentland Close, between 4am and 5am yesterday (Sunday, January 11).

Insp Edwards said: “It would appear somebody has gone to an address in the street to speak to somebody and the occupants have come out.

“As result of that a disturbance has all taken place in and around the front of the house.

“Seven or eight people, both males and females, were involved.

“A female suffered a deep cut to the head and was taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment. Her injuries are described as not life-threatening.”

Insp Edwards added: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information to contact us.”

Several people arrested on suspicion of affray have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Anyone with information should contact Durham Police on 101.
