A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital after falling from her horse while riding.
The victim, who is believed to be a local woman in her 30s, suffered chest injuries after falling as she rode the horse at South Hetton, near Peterlee, in County Durham shortly after 3pm on Sunday (Dec 28).
She was treated at the scene by medical staff from the Great North Air Ambulance and then flow to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for treatment.
A spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance said her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening and described her condition as stable.
