A NORTH-EAST restaurant company has expanded its business after taking over the catering and events at two local authority buildings.

Bill Oldfield, managing director of his namesake restaurant at Claypath, Durham, recently launched Oldfields Events and has won contracts to look after the catering at Peterlee’s Shotton Hall along with running the food operation and events at the new £1m Seaham Town Hall.

Mr Oldfield, who opened his first restaurant nearly two decades ago, plans to use his company’s expertise to build business at Seaham Town Hall, by promoting it for weddings, celebrations, conferences and events.

He said: “There has been a massive investment in the building and it’s a real asset to the town.

“The facilities are fantastic and the rooms are very versatile so we’ll be able to host a whole range of events there.

“We’ll also be offering the highest standards of catering with a first class food operation and we know this will be something that will not only bring business to the town hall but also to the town in general.

“Seaham Town Council is to be applauded for making this investment and for creating such an excellent resource.”

Seaham Town Council leader Cllr Eddie Bell said: “The new town hall gives the town a much-needed place to hold events of all kinds and which can bring people and income into the area.

“We know Oldfields Events will use all their expertise to drive the business forward and that this will be the start of a very successful partnership.”

Oldfields Events is also supplying catering for events at Peterlee’s Shotton Hall, which is a popular East Durham wedding and function venue.

The company plans to grow its external catering arm and is now also actively looking to run the food operation for events of all sizes.

Mr Oldfield said: “We’re delighted that Oldfield Events has got off to such a strong starts, with two prestigious clients under its belt."
