STAFF at a housing body are to raise money for a centre which helps the families of people with learning disabilities.
Paul Morgan, chair of East Durham Homes, has selected The Lisa Dixon Centre in Haswell as the chair’s charity for 2014-15.
The centre, home of Haswell and District Mencap, provides services, activities and support to people with a learning disability, their families or carers and the wider community.
The first fund raising event was held last month, when a Halloween-themed day for staff raised £360, including a raffle and pumpkin carving.
Other fundraising days and activities will take place throughout the year to raise money for the charity.
Mr Morgan said: “It gives me great pleasure to announce the The Lisa Dixon Centre as my chosen charity for 2014/2015.
“This is a local charity and East Durham Homes regularly uses their catering service".
He added: "I am sure everyone at East Durham Homes will do their best to raise money throughout the year for this very worthwhile cause.”
