Langley House Care Centre in Sunderland Road, Horden, near Peterlee, has appointed Deborah Wild as its new manager. The mother-of-four, who lives in Horden, has been promoted from deputy manager to run the 26-bedroom owned by the Durham Aged Mineworkers’ Homes Association. She said:”I am delighted to be managing a home in the town where I live and which has its heart very much in the local community. I am supported by a great and highly trained staff team that also live locally so we are all committed to ensuring Langley is the best run home in the region.”

BAND MASTERCLASS: A band masterclass, providing an introduction to the music industry will be held by the music agency Generator at Peterlee Youth Centre, Hailsham Place, Peterlee, from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday, April 23. Guests include Tom Cotton of Amazing Radio, Wayne McDonald of Generator and promoter Henry Carden. Entrance is free for 13-19 year olds or those working in the youth sector or in music. CARE AWARD: The Abbotts Court Care Home in Wingate Lane, Wheatley Hill, near Peterlee, has has won an award from the industry website carehome.co.uk for being in top 20 recommended care homes in North-East. The HC-One care home came fourth out of 876 homes in the region. The award was based on the homes’ recommendations from residents and there friends and relatives.
