YOUNG people in east Durham are being invited to try out new sports in their local park this Easter.

Park Sport events are being organised by Durham County Council’s culture and sport team to give young people aged eight and older the chance to have a go at sports they might not have tried before.

They are among a number of sports and activities being offered in County Durham during the Easter holidays, with a range of sessions also being organised in local leisure centres.

One of the park sport events will be held in Peterlee’s Woodhouse Park from 1pm to 4pm on Thursday April 17.

Sports and activities, which people can turn up and try, include street dance, touch rugby, street tennis, ping pong, golf, inflatable cricket and freestyle football games.

Those going along to the event in Peterlee will also have the chance to take part in a skate park competition.

The park sport events are free and activities will be aimed at young people aged eight to 11 and 11-plus.

East Durham Area Action Partnership is joint-funding the event in Peterlee.
