A 24-HOUR relay is taking place next week to raise money for a charity supporting mental health projects.

Run to the Sun, which takes place every June, raises money for Durham-based charity RT Projects.

This year’s event takes place from 12pm on Saturday, June 16 until 12pm the following day at Maiden Castle Sports Centre, on the outskirts of Durham.

Feature live music, fancy dress, craft stalls, a midnight lantern parade and Samba drumming, participants must keep a baton moving around the track at all times throughout the 24-hour event.

RT Projects, which is based in Gilesgate, delivers art sessions for people experiencing poor mental health, particularly those suffering from depression or anxiety related disorders.
