FASHION advice is on hand this weekend as a regular event returns to Durham.

Stylist Belinda Alexander will be giving people tips and advice as part of Fashion InDurham.

The event, organised by Durham’s Business Improvement District (Bid), is designed to showcase the wares of fashion retailers.

It takes place today and tomorrow, between 11am and 4pm, in St Nicholas Church Hall in the Market Place.

Bid engagement manager Adam Deathe said: “There is a lot of investment being pumped into the city, which is in turn attracting lots of new and exciting brands to Durham’s high street.

“We’re delighted to have recently welcomed M&Co to Prince Bishops Shopping Centre as well as the high-end fashion brand, Psyche, to Silver Street.

“Of course, along with these names, it’s the independent fashion retailers like award-winning Woven and The Mugwump that really make Durham different to the likes of the Arnison Centre or other towns close by.

“That’s the purpose of Fashion InDurham. It’s to showcase the exceptional clothing and accessories scene we have here in the city, while helping shoppers to update their wardrobe with the support of a team of expert stylists.”

Visitors can book a free one-to-one consultation, which lasts 30 minutes, by calling 07747 111702.

Ms Alexander said: “There’s something to suit everyone here and I’m excited to meet people at the event, to get to know them a little better and help them work through their own unique style, so they leave feeling fabulous and looking fantastic ready for the summer season.”
