YOUNG pupils from Rainbow Hill Nursery, Durham High School for Girls have been on a tour of local housing development The Drive, at Mount Oswald, where they learnt about how houses are built and the different vehicles involved in the housebuilding process.

Led by site manager Gary Hunt, the pupils donned their high-vis jackets and hard hats and were taken on a tour around the David Wilson Homes site

As part of the visit, the group, aged between three and four, were shown the building stages of a house, and were able to see the finished product.

The class were also tasked with spotting as many construction vehicles as possible, and were encouraged to find out what their purpose was on a construction site.

Mr Hunt said: “We always work to support the communities that we’re building in, to give something back. It was great to see just how engaged the youngsters were throughout the visit.”

Teacher Lesley Mock said: “It was great for the class to get out and see what they have been learning about.”
