FAMILIES are invited to join the colourful spectacle of celebrating Holi, the Indian Spring Festival, at Durham University’s Oriental Museum.
Also known as the Festival of Colours, Holi is celebrated by throwing brightly coloured powders over friends and relatives. Holi will be celebrated at the Oriental Museum on Saturday, March 3 with a day of powder throwing sessions, art and craft activities, storytelling, music, and traditional rangoli drawing. To tempt the taste buds, Indian food will be on sale.
For the powder throw, ticketholders will receive one bag of environmentally-friendly and skin-kind Holi powder in a range of colours. Additional bags will be available to buy on the day.
There will be five powder throwing sessions during the afternoon. Tickets cost £4 per person, and are free for the under twos. Visitors are advised to book and those taking part are advised to wear light-coloured clothes for maximum effect and be prepared to get messy. There are two sessions for families with small children.
