A MAN has appeared in court after entering a village store looking for a customer, who he is alleged to have threatened at knifepoint.
Jonathan Gerard Falashie, 48, was arrested following the incident at the Sainsbury’s Local store, in Grove Road, Brandon, near Durham, on Friday February 9.
He is accused of affray, in that he used or threatening unlawful violence, as well as threatening a person with a blade or sharply pointed object, namely a kitchen knife.
Appearing before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court, the charges were not put to him and the case was sent to Durham Crown Court, on Tuesday March 13.
The defendant, of Prestwich, in Greater Manchester, was remanded in custody.
