DURHAM University’s Oriental Museum will host a Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday, February 24, from 6pm to 8pm.
Lunar New Year is celebrated across Asia with two weeks of festivities and visitors to the museum can celebrate the Year of the Dog by enjoying themed crafts and trails, dragon dancing and storytelling. There will be an opportunity to try Korean crafts and games, sample traditional Lunar New Year food such as spring rolls, and enjoy a performance by Durham University’s P’ungmul Korean percussion group.
Kyungjin Lee, president of the university’s Korean Society, said: “Working with the museum is a great opportunity for us to engage with the local community and introduce people to Korean culture.”
