A CITY street is due to be closed for four weeks to allow for the second phase of a scheme to improve disabled access.
Owengate, which leads to Durham Cathedral, from February 26 to March 23 to allow the cobbles to be lifted and a temporary surface placed.
The street was closed for two months last summer for the first phase to take place and will be closed for another spell in July and August for the final stage, when the cobbles will be relaid.
The work is being done to widen the footpath to allow for better disabled access to the World Heritage Site.
The historic street will be shut to vehicles and pedestrians between 8.30am and 4.30pm each week day. Pedestrian access to Palace Green will be via Dun Cow Lane.
The work is part of a £1.84m investment programme by Durham County Council to improve roads and footpaths across the city over the next two years.
