A TOTAL of £1,300 was raised for charity after a pub sold off items it no longer need ahead of a major revamp.
Beefeater Broomside Park, Durham, has been updated, creating four jobs in the process.
"Prior to the conversion, the team at Broomside Park raised £1,300 by selling various objects no longer needed on-site. An impressive £700 was donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital – Whitbread’s partnership charity – and a further £600 to Macmillan Nurses," said a spokesman.
Paul Lewis, general manager at Beefeater Broomside Park, said: "We’re delighted to open Beefeater’s doors to the public. We have spent a lot of time working on the presentation of the restaurant to give our guests the wow factor.
“We are confident our visitors will enjoy the venue, food and dining experience as much as we do and friends and families can make the most of their time here. It’s Beefeater – but with a modern twist."
