A CRICKET club is appealing for support in an online vote to win funding to improve its pitches.
Ushaw Moor Cricket Club, founded in 1881, hopes to be awarded up to £10,000 funding from the Aviva Community Fund to improve the pitch and drainage at their Recreation Ground home.
The fund is holding an online vote for good causes at avivacommunityfund.co.uk and those projects with the most votes by the November 21 deadline will reach the final.
Club chairman Ray Curry said: “Our priority has always been the community, and this project will help Ushaw Moor Cricket Club develop at a time where many voluntary groups are feeling the financial strain.
“We are asking members, family, friends and strangers to get behind this project”.
