A SERIES of sessions are being held to help people plan for their deaths and try to dispel taboos about the subject.

St Cuthbert’s Hospice is arranging the free workshops, which will cover a range of topics including organ donation, power of attorney, funeral planning and how to have difficult conversations about the subject.

There will be six sessions, which are aimed at giving people greater peace of mind, held over two months in Witton Gilbert, near Durham.

Louise Johnson, Community Liaison Officer at St Cuthbert’s Hospice, said “We have successfully launched these sessions in Chester-le-Street and Spennymoor, and are thrilled to be extending them to Witton Gilbert.

“Naturally people have initial reservations about the subject matter but our aim is to dispel the taboos and encourage more open conversations about death and dying in our communities.

“We understand this is not easy to think about, but we can support you to get ‘Everything in Place’ and get on living your life to the full.”

The workshops will be held at Breathing Spaces, St Michael and all Angels, Witton Gilbert every two weeks beginning Thursday, 21st September from 10am to 12pm.
