A GRATEFUL new mum was so delighted with the care she received from the hospital that she raised almost £600 for the maternity ward.
Stephanie Mathews’ daughter, Faelene, was born by caesarean section at University Hospital of North Durham in February.
She said, “The care I received from every member of the team was faultless.
“The surgeon, nurses and the whole ward team were outstanding and I wanted to do something to thank them for caring for us so well.
“I run Polka School of Dance in Durham and each year we do a sponsored walk for charity.
“This year, we decided that the money raised by the children and their families would be donated to the maternity ward at the hospital to use to benefit ladies having their babies there.”
Maternity matron at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, Linda Ibbetson, said: “We’re delighted that Stephanie and her daughter are doing well and had such a positive experience in our care.
“We’re very grateful for their kind and generous donation”.
