AN inmate at a top security prison has denied attempting to smuggle prohibited articles when he transferred from another jail.
Asif Amin is accused of “causing to convey an offensive weapon”, in the form of a blade found in a dressing gown pocket, plus two telephone memory cards, a sim card and a telephone message reader, on his arrival at Frankland Prison, Durham, in July last year.
The 40-year-old accused, from Bedford, denied two counts of conveying a prohibited article into a prison on a video link appearance from Frankland, relayed to Durham Crown Court
His case was adjourned for a trial of up to two days, starting at the court on February 13, until when the defendant will remain in custody.
