INTERNATIONAL food sellers, crafters and local musicians are putting on a “supermarket” next Bank Holiday Monday.

The event in Durham Market Place will feature street food, live music and market traders from the region.

It is being put on as a joint effort involving several monthly events, including Live InDurham, featuring local musicians, and the Full Moon Market, made up of street food stalls from across the region.

Adam Deathe, business engagement manager at Durham BID, which is organising the event, said: “Once again we’re delighted to be partnering with our friends and colleagues at Durham Markets Company to bring the people of Durham and the surrounding areas this extra special Bank Holiday Monday event.

“It is the culmination of much-loved and well-attended events across the city throughout the course of the year, coming together to create one big super event that is bound to pull in the crowds and keep them entertained, while showcasing the very best of Durham and all it has to offer.”

Colin Wilkes, managing director of Durham Market Company, added: “The market promises to be a really enjoyable event for all ages, an ideal opportunity for a day out in the city centre.

“Enjoy freshly cooked food and the wonderful atmosphere created by live music throughout the day.”

It takes place between 11am and 6pm on Monday, August 28.

The event follows the Durham Draw held on Saturday and Sunday - with local artists hosting sessions around the city to help people experiment with drawing.
