PHOTOGRAPHERS from across County Durham have joined forces for a special exhibition celebrating the diverse landscapes, rich heritage and striking landmarks of the place they call home.

More than 40 unique images created by members of the I Love Durham Facebook group will be displayed in the corridors of the historic Ushaw College near Durham City until October 31.

From dramatic breaking waves and gulls at Seaham Lighthouse, to the cobbled streets and trams of Beamish Museum, to the awe inspiring waterfalls of Teesdale – the photographers have scaled the length and breadth of County Durham for the perfect shots.

Iconic buildings such as Durham Cathedral are also captured in different lights and seasons to tremendous effect.

Photographer and photography teacher Gary Lintern, who set up the I Love Durham group, organised the exhibition and contributed many of the stunning night time images.

The father-of-one, from Stanhope, said: “County Durham is a fantastic place to photograph because there is so much variety and that is what we have tried to show in this exhibition. It’s great to see all the photographs on display together in such a historic setting.”

Pat Seed, of Ushaw College, added: “We are delighted to host this exhibition. We are always keen to forge links with the community and this is the perfect example -photographs of the local area taken by local people.”
