POLICE were called to Durham city centre on Wednesday morning after reports of a suspicious bag in the city's market place.
Officers cordoned off the area around the bag, which had been discarded in a bin. On inspection it was found to be non-suspicious, containing just a scart lead and a DVD.
A spokesperson for Durham Police said: "We can confirm that there is no risk to the public.
"We would like to thank the public for their patience and support while we attended the incident.
"Anyone with any concerns about potentially suspicious packages should call 101, or 999 in an emergency."
