PEOPLE can find out more about interesting spots in Durham with new horticultural and heritage guides.

Durham County Council has created guides to its floral and heritage sculpture trails to help people explore the city.

The floral trail includes the city’s Botanic Gardens, Pelaw Woods, Crook Hall Gardens, Flass Vale Woods and Wharton Park while the heritage trail includes 15 places of interest, all of which are free to visit.

Leaflets can be picked up in venues around the city.

The council’s Oliver Sherratt said: “The Durham in Bloom Floral and Heritage Sculpture Trails showcase the city’s captivating horticultural and historical heritage in an appealing way.

“From woodland walks and graceful gardens to the roaming riverbanks and cityscape sculptures, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
