A FOLK ARTIST and activist singer are putting on a gig in a city centre cafe.

Folk singer Harri Endersby and activist and singer songwriter Sam Slatcher will be performing in Durham on July 2.

The event is being put on by Down By The River, a not for profit organisation, which works to benefit and support artists in the city.

It puts on gigs at venues across the city.

The event takes place from 4pm at the Claypath Deli.

Ms Endersby, who is from Durham and released her first album last year, has been heavily influenced by the region’s celebrated folk singers and musicians.

All income generated by the event goes directly to the artists.

Tickets are £5.
