RESIDENTS will be asked to comment on plans for eight new homes in their village at a public consultation event.

County Durham Housing Group plans to build affordable homes on land in Coalford Road, in Sherburn Village, near Durham.

A two-hour consultation event will take place on Wednesday, May 17 in the Attlee Square Community Centre, starting at 4pm.

Staff from County Durham Housing Group will be available to talk about the project and show local residents detailed plans of the proposed new homes.

Kate Abson, head of development and commercial property at County Durham Housing Group, said: “These new homes could help to meet demand for high quality and affordable new homes in Sherburn.

“We want to hear what local people think about the proposals and to answer any questions they may have about the potential development.”

The development forms part of the group’s plans to build 297 new homes across the region over the next three years, investing £32m across 17 different sites.
