A PUPPETEER is launching a new competition on World Puppetry Day today, for a family or teacher to win a free puppet show for their children’s class at school.
Philip Thompson has returned to the region to launch Pip’s Puppets after working as a children’s entertainer in London. He performs at birthday parties, schools and other special occasions.
The puppeteer, who hails from Durham and now lives in Sunderland, said: “I am very pleased to be following in my mother’s footsteps as a puppeteer.
“Bringing joy to people through the art of performance is a great thing to be able to do. In puppetry, you may be hidden from the audience but you can see their smiles, interaction and genuine enjoyment from behind the theatre.”
