PART of a road will be closed until the end of the week while essential gas main repairs are made.
Northern Gas Network is carrying out work on Gilesgate, Durham until the end of the week.
A section of road outside 173 Gilesgate was closed on Tuesday. The main road (A181) is unaffected.
The gas supply to local properties is unaffected and access for residents will be maintained.
Andy Coates, site manager for Northern Gas Network said: “We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience customers may experience during this essential repair work, and thank everyone for their patience and support as we look to complete it as quickly as possible.
“The safety of the public and our engineers is our number one priority and in order for us to carry out the repair as quickly and as safely as we can, we need close part of the road to traffic.”
