A MAN was taken to hospital suffering from burns and smoke inhalation after a fire in a garage at a block of flats.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) said the garage and a car parked within it were “well alight” when they arrived at St Margaret's Court, Durham, shortly after 2am on Saturday morning.
One man was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham suffering from burns and smoke inhalation.
Four other people also received treatment at the scene from paramedics.
CDDFRS said three fire appliances went to the scene, while four breathing apparatus sets were also in use.
It said the window frames of a first floor flat at the complex were also severely damaged. The cause is not yet known.
