A CHARITY fireworks event is set to return for a second year.

Framwellgate School Durham is to host a Bonfire Night event on Saturday, November 5 to raise money for St Cuthbert’s Hospice.

Last year’s inaugural event was attended by more than 3,500 people who enjoyed a dazzling display and helped raise £15,000 for the charity in the process.

High numbers are expected once again and tickets can be purchased in advance.

This year will also include fairground rides, music, food and refreshments.

Event organiser Jade McArdle said: “We had an amazing response to our event last year.

“It was a fantastic night and it was wonderful to hear the gasps of excitement from the crowd every time a firework went off.

“We are excited to return to Framwellgate School, it’s a fantastic venue and Impact Pyrotechnics will manage the display again this year to ensure the event is another show-stopper.”

Funds raised for the charity from the display will help the hospice continue to provide free palliative care and bereavement support to the people of County Durham.

For tickets for the event, sponsored by Ramside Hall and supported by councillors Amanda Hopgood, Mamie Simmons and Mark Wilkes, visit www.stcuthbertshospice.com or ring 0191 368 1170.
