FOOD lovers are in for a treat when two world class chefs return to the region in autumn.
Durham Cathedral is welcoming back former maître chef des cuisines of the Savoy Hotel, Anton Edelmann and Master Sommelier and former World Champion Sommelier, Gerard Basset OBE, to offer guests a unique gourmet experience.
Both experts came to the cathedral last summer for evening of fine wine and culinary delights and the feedback was so good that they have been asked back for a second year.
The evening’s menu is inspired by John Thacker’s Art of Cookery (1758), from the Collections of Durham Cathedral and a sumptuous authentic Georgian feast with a modern twist will be served in the magnificent medieval Undercroft Restaurant at Durham Cathedral on Friday, October 7.
Each course will be expertly matched with a glass of wine specifically chosen by Gerard Basset to perfectly complement Edelmann’s culinary delights.
Tickets cost £75. To book a place, contact events@durhamcathedral.co.uk or call 0191-386-4266.
