A WEEKEND of stunts, displays and all things bike is set to return to the North-East this weekend.

Durham Police’s Bikewise takes place on Sunday, July 24, at its headquarters at Aykley Heads.

The family fun day is expected to draw crowds who come for the bike stunts, mountain bike display riders and musical entertainment.

This year attractions include Darlington-based stunt rider Dave Coates, who will be performing at the event for the 21st consecutive time.

The popular rider will be using a variety of bikes which he has been using around the country with Yamaha’s 2016 MT Darkside Tour and will be available between shows for autographs, photos and questions.

Other acts include freestyler Jamie Squibb, who is travelling from Devon for the show and TT Legend John McGuinness, mountain bike display riders and a visit from the police helicopter.

Visitors will also be able to meet members of the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit which took part Channel Five’s programme Police Interceptors last year.

Music will be provided by Local rock band Kimera.

The event starts at 10am and parking is available at nearby County Hall. There is also free bus transport available from the Park and Ride facility at Sniperley.
