MORE than 400 students have signed up to take part in a colour run to raise money in memory of a popular teacher.
Pupils at Durham Johnston School, in Durham City, are taking part in the run, which has been organised in memory of IT teacher Gill Bittlestone, who died in May.
The PE department has organised the colour fun run, which takes place on Friday, July 1, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The young people will be running a mile while throwing coloured paint powder at each other.
Staff, students, parents and well-wishers have already more than £4,000, which will help pay for education for Miss Bittlestone’s four-year-old daughter Sophia.
Miss Bittlestone, who had been a teacher at the school for eight years, was working there until the week before she died in May.
