MOTORISTS are reminded vehicles parked on the route of a cycle race must be moved.

A stage of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series will be taking place in Durham on Tuesday, May 31.

The course starts and ends on Margery Lane and the route includes Grove Street, South Street and Crossgate.

People are being reminded that all parked vehicles must be removed from the route by no later than 12pm on May 31. Vehicles must not be parked on Grove Street later than 7am on that day.

This is the seventh year the high-speed cycle event, which is free for spectators, has been held in Durham. Last year it attracted 12,500 people.

People going to watch the event can park at County Hall or at the park and ride sites at Howlands and Sniperley.

Park and ride buses will only operate until the normal time of 7pm, but the car parks will remain open for those wishing to walk back from town.

Parking queries can be made by emailing events@durham.gov.uk or phoning 03000282012.
