POLICE in Durham have scaled down their search for a woman who was last seen walking toward the River Wear, saying they are no longer concerned for her safety.
The woman, pictured on CCTV, was seen walking towards the area of the Durham City Riverside to the rear of the Cellar Door Restaurant, Saddler Street, yesterday (Thursday, May 12), at 4.35pm.
But officers now believe the woman in her 40s may have got bus away.
A Durham Constabulary spokesman said: “The woman’s behaviour of concern to people who saw her in Durham yesterday, because they believed she might be putting herself at the risk of harm.
“That is why we put out an appeal asking if anyone had seen her.
“However, we have since had more information to suggest that she might have got a bus and left the city.
“We are no longer as concerned as we were. It does not appear she has come to any harm.
“We have no reports of any missing persons who would fit her description and so ther efforts to find her have been scaled down.”
