A SEVEN-year-old girl had her long plait chopped off for a charity that helps poorly children.
Lilly Anne Bage, from Brasside, near Durham, decided to have her waist-length hair cut to a short bob so she could donate it to the Little Princess Trust.
The charity uses donated real hair to make wigs for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.
When she discovered not all hair can be used to make wigs, Lilly decided to also raise money to cover the cost of making a wig.
The Finchale Primary School pupil managed to reach her target of £350 by setting up an online sponsorship page.
Lilly's mother, Stevianne Bage, said she wanted to donate her hair after learning of the charity's work and after seeing one of her friends have chemotherapy.
Hairdresser Amy Urwin Moore, of The House Hair and Beauty in Spennymoor, cut Lilly’s hair for free after learning it was for charity and said she was the youngest person she knew to do so.
Lilly can still be sponsored online at gofundme.com/lillys-hair.
