A MAN has died after being struck by a struck by a train.
Emergency services were called to the East Coast Main Line at Langley Moor, Durham City shortly after 9.45pm last night and discovered the body of a 64-year-old man.
Train services were suspended for more than two hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We were called to the line close to High Street in Langley Moor at 9.47pm following a report of a body on the line.
“Colleagues from Durham Constabulary and North East Ambulance Service also attended, and a 64-year-old man from Durham was pronounced dead at the scene”.
The spokesman added: “The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and his family have been informed.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
