ST CUTHBERT’S corpse and organ music will be the topics covered by a university college’s spring talks programme.
Durham University’s Grey College will host Dame Gillian Weir on Sunday, February 21, as the acclaimed organist discusses her career and answers questions from the audience.
On Sunday, March 13, David Williams, from Durham University, will give a talk titled: St Cuthbert’s Corpse: what happened during the Reformation?
He will compare what was found in the saint’s coffin when it was opened in 1827 with other documented openings to piece together a number of scenarios for what happened to it during the turbulent Reformation period.
Both talks will be held at Holgate House, Grey College, South Road, Durham, at 2.15pm. Entry is free.
