A CARE service in north Durham has been given an ‘outstanding’ rating after an inspection by watchdogs.

Crescent Homecare, in Langley Park, was visited by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in November.

It provides care and support services to some young adults, but mainly to older people living in their own homes in the community.

Debbie Westhead, CQC’s deputy chief inspector for Adult Social Care in the North, said: “The team there should be extremely proud of the work they do.

“We were particularly impressed with the service’s desire to continually improve and the dedication of staff to ensure that the people they supported were happy and well cared for.

“It is clear that people are at the heart of the service’s values and they strived to ensure people are provided emotional as well physical care, to help support them in leading independent lives in their community.”

During their inspection, CQC found that the service, treated people and their families with compassion and kindness and had a strong and experienced management team.

Inspectors found that people received an outstanding level of care and support which enabled them to remain cared for in their own homes, and supported in the local community.

Inspectors saw that the service was very highly thought of and received many ‘thank you’ cards from families in recognition of their excellent service.
