FOLK-rock legends Fairport Convention will visit Durham as part of their 32nd consecutive winter tour.

The band formed in 1967, has won a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award and its Liege and Lief album was named the most influential folk album of all time by BBC Radio Two listeners.

Lead vocalist and guitarist Simon Nicol, the only remaining founder member, said: “We’re looking forward to visiting Durham.

“Live shows are what keep us going – the band has been on the road for nearly 50 years and we still love every minute of it.”

The show is on Tuesday, February 9 at the Gala Theatre, Durham, and starts at 7.30pm.

Singer-songwriter Roger Davies will also perform.

Tickets are priced £21 for adults, £19 for concessions and £18 for Gala Friends. To book, call 03000-266-600 or visit galadurham.co.uk.
