FOOD lovers are being challenged to produce a romantic Valentine’s Day ode – to steak.

Diners at The Market Tavern, on Durham Market Place, can win a £250 gift card if their six-line limerick or song is judged to be the best by the “steak factor” panel.

General Manager Anthony Lenaghan said: “We all know Valentine’s Day is traditionally about declaring love for that extra special someone, but for many there is no greater love than tucking into a delicious, freshly grilled steak dinner.

“We’re looking forward to seeing just how creative Durham residents can be with their love songs and poems about their favourite feast. We’re certainly not expecting Shakespeare, but at least some attempt at rhyming would be good.”

Entries to the Love Me Tender contest should be submitted online at flaminggrillpubs.com/lovemetender by Monday, February 15.

Entries should be no more than six lines long and can be about love for steak or Flaming Grill pubs. The winners will be announced on Monday, February 22.
