A CAR was extensively damaged when part of the gable end of a building was ripped off in high winds yesterday (Sunday, November 29).
The County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the incident in Station Road, Ushaw Moor, near Durham, shortly after noon yesterday.
No-one was in the car at the time and no one was hurt.
The masonry fell from a vacant flat in the process of being sold above above Starlight Hair Studio.
A spokesman for the fire brigade said: “Fire control received a call at 12.25pm that masonry from a building had fallen down in the high winds
“Part of the wall collapsed onto a car. Nobody was in the car at the time and nobody was hurt in the incident.
“A crew from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service attended.”
The area remained cordoned off this morning (Monday, November 30).
