A LEGO model of Durham Cathedral will go on sale this weekend (Saturday, November 28).

The 1,880-brick collector’s set will be available from the Cathedral shop from 9am on Saturday, priced £199.

It is recommended for ages 14 and up and proceeds will go to the Cathedral’s £10m Open Treasure appeal.

Two other smaller models have already been released.

Vanessa Ward, the Cathedral’s business support manager, said: “Ever since we released the first mini model of the Lego Cathedral, we have had people asking if we would be doing larger versions.

“Our second edition model included the addition of the cloister and this third edition is on a much larger scale and designed for the serious Lego enthusiast.”

A 12ft model is currently under construction in the Undercroft, funded by donations.
