A CHILDREN’S author has called into school to teach children some of the tricks of his trade.

Dan Anthony, writer of The Rugby Zombies stories and Steve’s Dreams, visited Durham High School For Girls to give a talk to pupils and read from his books.

The author, a former scriptwriter for the CBBC series Tracy Beaker as well as a regular BBC Radio 2 and Radio 4 contributor, led a workshop for the girls in Junior House to pass on writing tips.

At the end of the day, he answered questions and signed copies of his books.

Junior House teacher Paul Allaker said: “Dan, who is based in South Wales, had never led workshops in an all girls’ school before and he was certainly taken with the girls’ enthusiasm and the beautiful Durham area.

“Not only that, but the girls were incredibly enthused by Dan’s approach and eager to try out some new creative writing skills.”
