POLICE had to wake a motorist from his sleep before arresting him in a service station car park.
Officers from Cleveland and Durham Road Policing Unit were called to Bowburn Services on the A1(M) on Thursday morning after reports of a man 'passed out in his car'.
"Officers attended and found the sleeping motorist in the driver's seat of his car and he spectacularly failed the road side drug test," a spokesman for the force said on Facebook.
"Things got worse for the driver when he was found in possession of suspected Class A drugs and thousands of pounds of cash.
"The money has now been seized under the proceeds of crime act!! Oh and he also had no insurance and a provisional driving licence. Bad day for this guy as he is now sat in our cells, or maybe he's sleeping."
