IT may have been raining hard across the region today (Wednesday, October 7), but it was snow cold in Durham.
Members of Durham University’s Ski and Snowboard Club arranged for a huge amount of snow to be trucked in from a complex in Leeds and created a man-made slope in Durham Market Place, next to the iconic Lord Londonderry statue.
Snowboarders performed flips and jumps, as bemused shoppers looked on open-mouthed.
The stunt was to promote the club and its annual ski trip.
The slope was built, used and removed all in a few hours.
