DURHAM is to host a major fireworks night display for the first time in four years.

Durham Police’s popular display, previously staged at Aykley Heads, has been at Beamish Museum since 2012.

Now St Cuthbert’s Hospice is to hold its own event, at Framwellgate School Durham.

It will take place on Saturday, November 7 at 6pm.

Hospice fundraiser Jade Mcardle said: “The fireworks display is a first for us but we are expecting a really great show and we’re already getting a huge amount of interest from local families.

“St Cuthbert’s Hospice is all about families and we thought this would be a really fun way of getting our message across, giving people what they want around Bonfire Night and raising money for our hospice.

“We’ve found a great location in Framwellgate School and we’d like to thank the staff there for supporting us and supporting our community in this way. We really hope people think about spending a couple of hours with us on the big night.”

Gates open at 6pm. The fireworks display will be at 8pm. There will also be a fairground and food.

Tickets purchased in advance cost £5 for adults, £3 for ages 15 and under. Family tickets for two adults and two children cost £14. To book, visit stcuthbertshospice.com or call 0191-386-1170.
