A ROTARY club has honoured its four surviving founder members, as it celebrated its 40th anniversary.
The Rotary Club of Durham Bede held a special Founders’ Day lunch in honour of its “founders” Bob Robson, Alick McWilliam, Tony Elliott and Jim Freeley.
The club was admitted to Rotary International on April 22, 1976.
The lunch was held at Finbarrs Restaurant, Waddington Street, Durham last Tuesday (September 29).
Guests came from other Rotary clubs and groups and societies in the city and a film titled ‘Rotary Bede – the first 40 years’ was premiered.
The founders were presented with certificates and thanked for their service.
