A NORTH East musician is performing in the region for the first time in 15 years at a concert raising money for abandoned dogs.

Talented guitarist Zoe McCulloch will be playing the music of The Shadows when she performs at the charity gig in Pity Me, County Durham, on October 24.

It has been organised by Crook author Chris Clark in aid of Supporters of Stray and Abandoned Dogs [SoSAD], which provides financial assistance to Deerness Kennels, in Langley Moor.

Zoe, who is from Newcastle but now lives in South Wales, dueted with the late Jet Harris, former bassist of The Shadows, and in 2010 was chosen as one of only 18 guitarists worldwide to receive a Buddy Holly guitar, given out by his foundation in recognition of her talent.

On the night she will be playing two sets, the first 21 numbers all The Shadows numbers 1960-1964. The second set of 19 numbers is a mix of The Shadows, Hank Marvin Solo, The Ventures and The Spotniks.

She will be supported by singer Lee Brannigan, from Low Fell, Gateshead.

The event is taking place at Framwellgate Moor and Pity Me Working Mens Club, in Front Street, Pity Me, from 7pm to 11pm on Saturday, October 24.

There will be a licensed bar and tickets are £15, which includes a buffet. Call Chris Clark on 01388 767960 to book.
