A MONTH-long local food promotion begins tomorrow (Thursday, October 1), with many Durham delicacies up for grabs.
Visit County Durham’s Taste Durham Month is a celebration of locally made food and 26 eateries, attractions, hotels and bed and breakfasts across the country will be promoting at least one Durham-inspired dish.
Dishes on offer include a Teesdale lead miners’ pasty, a Durham full English breakfast and meals using local lamb, cheese, bread, pork, beef, fruit and vegetables, as well as ale and gin.
Michelle Gorman, acting chief executive of Visit County Durham, said: “Taste Durham Month is a great way of celebrating the fascinating food heritage and great local produce on offer across the county.”
Thomas Robinson, owner of the Rose and Crown at Romaldkirk, Teesdale, said: “We were very keen to be involved with Taste Durham Month as it’s a great opportunity to raise the profile of our menu and dishes inspired by local produce.”
