WILLING pilgrims are wanted for a charity challenge of Biblical proportions.

The Nazareth Trust, a Christian charity based in Hetton-le-Hole, near Durham is looking for people to take part in a sponsored walk around the Holy Land to raise money for sick children at a hospital it runs in Nazareth.

The trip will take place from November 16 to 22 and walkers will trek from Nazareth to Capernaum, stopping off at key religious and historical sites along the way.

Participants must raise at least £1,500 for the cause.

Shaun Newton, the Trust’s head of resource development and the walk organiser, said: “This is the third walk we have organised and this year we will be raising funds for our paediatric unit.

“Our hospital offers medical care to anyone in the Nazareth area regardless of religion or culture – and of course helping sick children and making their stay in hospital less traumatic is vital.”

William Reilly, of Hetton-le-Hole, took part in the last walk. He said: “We regularly stopped to visit historic buildings and archaeological sites.

“The views were often stunning, from the Horns of Hattin to Mt Arbel with its sweeping views of the Sea of Galilee.”

Overnight accommodation is provided en route. For more information, call Mr Newton on 0191-520-8030, email: shaun@nazarethtrust.org or visit nazarethtrust.org
