A CATHEDRAL is looking for cyclists to take part in a community ride for sponsorship.

Cyclists joining the Durham Cathedral team get free entry to the Durham Big Ride, in return to committing to raise at least £200 for the cause.

Money raised will support the cathedral’s £10m Open Treasure project to create world-class exhibition spaces.

Gaye Kirby, the cathedral’s head of development, said: “The Big Ride is a wonderful event that creates a real buzz in and around the city and this year we’re asking people to turn some of that energy and enthusiasm into a fundraising push for one of the city’s best loved landmarks.

“We hope that members of Team Durham Cathedral will receive fantastic support in the form of sponsorship from their friends, family and colleagues.”

The Little, Middle and Big rides, of three, 10 and 25 miles, will take place on Sunday, September 6, with the 52-mile Beast on Sunday, September 20.

To join Team Durham Cathedral, call 0191-375-5256 by Sunday (August 9).
